DESCRIPTIONTES is hiring three (3) Carpenters with a specialty in roofing to help support campus operations and facilities upkeep
- Duration: These roles are anticipated to last roughly 5 - 6 months.
- Compensation and Benefits: $43.44/hour. Eligible for Mid-Level Benefits including Medical Plans, Vacation, Sick, and Holiday pay
- Location: 100% on site.
- Available work schedules:(3) Mon - Fri 6:00AM -2:30PM
Under general supervision, the Carpenter will perform journey level work in construction, maintenance and repair specific to the carpentry for University buildings and facilities, installation, remodeling, inspection, maintenance and/or repair of all types of buildings, facilities substructures, infrastructures, superstructures and parts thereof. Establishes and maintains a positive and cooperative working relationship with members of the department and campus community.
- May work overtime, alternate shifts or call-back hours as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS- Journey level skill through demonstrated experience in maintenance and repair procedures including preventive maintenance, breakdown, repair and trouble-shooting, construction, installation and fabrication techniques typical to the carpentry trade in all types of buildings, facilities substructures, infrastructures, superstructures and parts thereof for University, College, Hospital, Municipality and/or other large commercial facilities.
- Journey level experience in the carpentry and cabinet making trade including, but not limited to framing, finish carpentry, cabinet making, laminate work, interior and exterior walls and ceiling sheathing and finishing, and window repair and installation.
- Knowledge demonstrated through experience with proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to carpentry trade. Experience working within standard safety regulations with portable and stationary power tools.
- Strong demonstrated ability through experience reading and interpreting blueprints, schematic drawings, isometric drawings and system diagrams with experience performing mathematical computations typical to the carpentry trade. Strong demonstrated ability to read and follow instructions and manuals related to the carpentry trade.
- Demonstrated experience ordering and maintaining parts and materials inventory and controlling stocking levels for assigned areas.
- Proven experience working within and understanding of safety practices and Environmental Health and Safety policies and procedures typical to the carpentry trade including, but not limited to the use of scaffolding, safety harnesses and fall protection. Demonstrated ability to observe and practice safe working habits and maintain security of buildings and systems.
- Experienced user of standard computer systems and applications such as electronic mail and Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) commonly used in a facilities management operation such as, but not limited to MAXIMO (Work Management), material and supplies, labor, time and attendance systems.
- Skill to organize and prioritize work. Ability to follow through and carry out assignments, and problem-solving skills and sound judgement. Must possess a positive and strong work ethic.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities. Ability to build and maintain customer relationships through a professional approach in handling customer service needs and problems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information verbally, in writing and electronically with a diverse population.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS- DOJ/FBI background check and clearances required prior to hire.
- DMV check and clearance required prior to hire. Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver License and participate in the DMV Pull Program.
- Physical ability to perform all job functions and duties. Must be able to move and work through limited access spaces and cover distances on foot to widely separated work sites.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $90,703 - $90,703 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $43.44 - $43.44
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
