• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' clinical problems and health care needs.
• Record physical findings, and formulates a plan and prognosis, based on the patient's condition.
• Discuss cases with physicians and other health professionals to prepare comprehensive patient care plans.
• Submit health care plan and goals of individual(s) served for periodic review and evaluation by a physician.
• Prescribe or recommend drugs or other forms of treatment such as physical therapy, inhalation therapy, or related therapeutic procedures.
• May refer individual(s) served to the physician for consultation or to specialized health resources for treatment.
• Maintain current knowledge of each individual’s medical condition.
• Participate in Interdisciplinary Team meetings as required.
• Serve on committees as required
• Regular and punctual attendance 
• Keep staff well informed regarding health-related problems of the persons served; discussing reasons for treatments, medications, etc. with the appropriate parties
• Provide in-service training to staff on medically-related issues
• Ensure that all policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines are followed per state and agency requirements
• On-call availability for medical concerns

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing.  Must possess and maintain current registration. 
• Master’s degree from an accredited advanced Nurse Practitioner program. 
• Successfully pass the Certification Exam Experience
• A minimum of one (1) year of clinically relevant experience is required. Experience working with the elderly, or intellectually disabled preferred. 
• Must have knowledge of and technical skills in medical nursing procedures, first aid, and basic principles of Nursing. Must know or learn about individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), seizure disorders, Autism, and other associated diagnoses pertaining to the field of intellectual disabilities and geriatrics.
• Working knowledge of Windows 7, Office 2010 applications. Aptitude to learn other software programs as required for this position.
