Nurses live onsite and manage the Health Center, providing top-quality care to campers and staff all summer long. Camp Skylemar is a 7-week sports and outdoors-oriented program that brings together college students, coaches, nurses, and teachers. Staff orientation and weekly in-service training sessions provide a strong foundation to assume summer responsibilities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide medical care, such as weekly health checks.
- Regularly communicate health and safety tips to campers and staff, including visiting bunks and monitoring the overall well-being of campers and counselors.
- Organize daily distribution and administration of medicine to campers and staff.
- Ensure allergies are handled safely.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies.
- Occasionally, act as an overnight nurse.
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, treatments, and incident reports.
- Prepare first aid medical kits for weekly off-site trips and overnights.
- Oversee postseason closing of Health Center.
Qualifications:
- Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) or LPN
- Experience working in a school or pediatrics is preferred.
- Experience working in a team or collaborative environment.
Compensation & Perks:
Compensation starts at $1,000.00 a week based on experience and certifications (RN or LPN). Private housing is provided along with round-trip travel expenses.
