Department Overview
Home Infusion Nurses provide comprehensive care to home infusion patients in an outpatient, community setting, including, but not limited to, the administration of antibiotics, immunotherapies, TPN, biologics, various specialty medications and supportive care therapies. The RN will be required to travel to the patient's home (or agreed upon setting) and provide infusion therapy. The nurse is responsible to appropriately document patient care activities within OHSU EHR and utilize medical technology to coordinate care and ensure the patient and family are receiving OHSU's highest quality of nursing care. This nurse should be available to work Monday through Friday and is expected to be part of the On-Call rotation -which includes overnight, holidays, and weekend coverages. Required Qualifications
- Completion of Infusion Nursing Society Fundamentals of Infusion therapy (FIT) modules certification during orientation period
- 2 years direct care experience as an RN.
- Record, track, and assign duties and processes to ensure appropriate billing and revenue generation, when applicable.
- Ability to effectively communicate within a multidisciplinary team.
- BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.
- ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
- Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
- Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
- BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- BLS must not expire during orientation
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of hospital nursing experience with direct patient care.
- Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information and tools.
- Recent Experience working in ambulatory infusion.
- Certified Nurse Infusion certification.
- PIV placement proficiency.
- Experience working with all vascular access devices.
Additional Details
Length of Orientation Experienced Nurse
- External candidates: OHSU & Nursing New Employee Orientation (NEO) for about a week.Either Transition to Practice (TTP) Program Specialty Fellowship/Fellowship Learning Pathway or Orientation experience for 3 days-26 weeks depending on the care area. An employment service agreement may apply.
