Health Care Center Nurse
Windridge Tennis & Sports Camps - ACA-Accredited Camp
Dates: Mid-June through Mid-August
Compensation: $1,600 per week
Benefits: Room and board included; full use of tennis courts and camp facilities
Team Environment: Work alongside another on-site nurse
Position Overview
The Health Care Center Nurse is an integral part of the Windridge Tennis & Sports Camps community and works closely with the Camp Director, camp staff, and another on-site nurse to ensure consistent, high-quality health care throughout the summer.. This role supports the health, safety, and well-being of campers and staff while contributing to a warm, energetic residential camp environment focused on athletic development, sportsmanship, and fun.
Qualifications
- Licensed in the appropriate state as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician’s Assistant (PA)
- Experience working with children and young adults preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications
- Ability to assist in developing, updating, and monitoring health care plans and records
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to the Camp Director
General Responsibilities
- Serve as a nurse in the camp Health Care Center
- Collaborate with another on-site nurse to coordinate coverage and care
- Support health, safety, and cleanliness standards throughout camp
- Work with camp leadership to help maintain a safe and healthy environment for all
Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure all campers and staff have required health history and examination forms on file
- Assist in establishing and maintaining systems for health screenings for arriving campers, staff, and off-camp trips
- Maintain medical records, including daily medical logs and accident/incident reports
- Manage and safeguard medications in accordance with approved standing orders
- Inventory medical supplies and place orders as needed
- Post daily medication and health-call hours
- Schedule medical and dental appointments with local providers when necessary
- Maintain, issue, and track first-aid kits
- Monitor the health of campers and all staff, including support staff
- Evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions and recommend improvements to promote health and safety
- Participate in risk-management documentation and assessment
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support camp operations
- Participate in and lead staff training related to camp health and safety
- Provide instruction in CPR, first aid, and universal precautions for infection control
Essential Functions
- Ability to communicate clearly and train staff in health, safety, and emergency procedures
- Ability to drive to local health care facilities and emergency treatment locations
- Physical ability to lift or assist campers or staff in emergency or health-related situations
- Visual and cognitive ability to read prescriptions, medical forms, and health records
- Ability to move quickly throughout camp, including to remote areas
- Auditory ability to communicate by phone with medical providers and emergency services
- Ability to observe and assess camp conditions for health and safety concerns
