Riverview Animal Hospital is a 12 doctor, AAHA accredited, practice with one main location and a satellite facility both in beautiful Durango, CO. We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic RVT/CVT/LVT who enjoys a fast paced environment with the desire to learn new skills and be a part of our growing team. We are open 7 days a week providing a mix of wellness, endoscopy, dentistry, orthopedic, rehabilitation, acupuncture and emergency care to the community.
Experienced non certified veterinary assistants may be considered.
Summary of Required Skills:
- Anesthetic Monitoring
- Knowledge of common medications and administration techniques
- Safely Restrain Cats and Dogs
- Proficient in time management with the ability to anticipate doctors needs
- IV catheter placement
- Venipuncture
- Nail trim and anal gland expressions
- Suture or drain removals
- Position for and obtain X-rays
- Basic computer knowledge. (Avimark experience a plus)
- Positive client communication skills
- Team player attitude
- Knowledge of lab tests and required samples
- Knowledge and ability to follow sterile technique
- Ability to act in a professional and compassionate way at all times
Job Description:
- Professional client communication and education, obtaining medical histories and symptoms along with electronic medical record keeping skills
- Check in and out surgical patients and outpatients
- Nursing responsibilities including: restraining patients, administering medications. PO/IV/SQ/IM, applying bandages, proficient IV catheter placement and venipuncture
- Prep patient for surgery
- Monitor anesthesia for routine and emergency procedures
- Dental x-rays and cleaning
- Monitor hospitalized patients
- Set up prior to and clean after surgical procedures
- Review patient care with clients in a compassionate manner
- Create estimates and discuss with owners
- Answer phones
- Fill prescriptions
- Discuss with clients basic pet care
- Enter patient charges
- Laboratory procedures preparing or preforming: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, blood chemistry, and fecals.
- Be a team player - assist in all areas of the hospital when needed
- Assist doctor with appointments
Compensation: The base hourly range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00. Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role and level of responsibilities. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and additional factors such as relevant education or training.
